One of the best things about Legian is the pedestrian walkway that runs parallel to the beach. Some of Bali's favorite resorts are located along this stretch of beachfront, including the popular Padma Resort & Spa.
If you haven't visited in a while, you'll notice a hip new venue at what used to be the resort's Bella Rosa Italian restaurant - welcome to S.K.A.I. Beach Club.
We heard that "S.K.A.I." is a playful acronym for "sunset, kocktail, al fresco and indulgence", although we're not too sure about that. What we are sure about are the endless ocean views of the pounding surf at Legian Beach that you can enjoy from almost any spot at S.K.A.I, and what beach club isn't it's worth without a dreamy infinity pool?
If you're one of those people who don't like the beach because of the sand, this is seriously a great option to soak up the atmosphere in comfort. Get there early to grab one of the comfortable sun loungers and a spot under the colorful umbrellas. With an outdoor shower and toilet/changing room facilities nearby, it's the perfect place to spend an hour or two while your other half hits the waves at Legian Beach.
We appreciate that children are welcome to use the swimming pool until 5pm so that everyone can enjoy sunset time, and boy are they good sunsets!
Whether it's a colorful cocktail, a jug of sangria or a pint of "minus-two" beer (the only one of it's kind in Legian, we're told), S.K.A.I. is the place for stylish sundowners. If there isn't a live DJ spinning chilled tunes (on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday) then there's bound to be some other type of laidback beach club music to accompany Bali's famous sunsets.
S.K.A.I. is more than just a place for sundowners though; it's a great place for lunch and dinner too. The sophisticated menu includes shared plates such as carpaccio beef rendang and tequila ceviche of salmon & scallop, while for those with more of an appetite there's sticky pork ribs with a passion fruit & plum glaze or of course everyone's favorite, pizza.
If you can manage to tear yourself from the tropical beachfront views, make your way inside to the air-conditioned seating area. A giant mural of a Balinese Legong dancer is a beautiful touch and a reminder that you're actually in Bali!
S.K.A.I. Beach Club is open for breakfast for Club and Suite Guests of the resort only, however non-guests not staying at Padma Resort are welcome from 11pm until late, for lunch and dinner.
Come down for a dip in the pool, a super cold beer or a sangria at sunset!
Padma Resort & Spa is located in the heart of Legian, between Kuta and Seminyak. Take Kura-Kura Bus and get off at Bali Mandira Resort on the Kuta Line. Head up towards the beach and turn right onto the pedestrian walkway. S.K.A.I. Beach Club is just a few meters along, on the right-hand side.
