The 2017 MayBank Bali Marathon is the 6th Edition of this popular running event date back to its very first edition in 2012. This year, as it was similar to last year, starting and finishing point will be at the famous Bali Safari and Marine Park in Gianyar, Bali. Due to its popular demand and increasing popularity/prestige, this year participants has reaches up to 9,000 runners in 3 category or 10Km, Half Marathon (21Km) and Marathon (42Km). No such small feat and illustrates how far this program has grown from its original concepts.
Bali Marathon concept is a day out for family, and aim to create a non-exclusive running events; expecting the event to become a family day out and a chance for all family member to enjoy. In the last 2 events, Bali Marathon added children sprint competition for kids to compete while in the same time encourage them to have a healthy life from early age and for them to experience the thrill of running and partake in the activity.
This year, MayBank Bali Marathon changes their courses with the hope of giving fresh challenges and better excitement to its participants, with running courses viewing the Badung strait, Nusa Penida Island, Gunung Agung Mountain, and villages/temples to offer nuances of local tradition without reducing the essence of the competition.
Similar to the previous years, this year event will see participants greeted by traditional dances, schoolchildren cheering, beleganjur (Balinese local musical instruments) and Hanoman monkey.
