The latest "it place" in Bali is a quirky setup along Berawa Beach, on the way to Canggu and just north of Seminyak. La Laguna is the newest addition to the "La-" family, from the same creative minds responsible for La Favela on Oberoi Street and La Plancha on Seminyak Beach.
La Laguna is like something out of a fairytale, and you'd be forgiven for forgetting that you're actually in Bali! Tucked down the end of Jl. Pantai Kayu Putih you'll find a collection of vintage gypsy caravans that look straight out of a children's story book.
Rumored to be the VIP rooms of the venue, each wooden caravan has a unique design that somehow seems to fit in with the beachfront location.
We've already spotted these cute little boho wagons in fashion editorials and can see a lot more coming in the future, how can you resist!
Once past the caravans, you reach the actual restaurant and bar at La Laguna. The place is a lot bigger than first originally think, with various seating areas dotted around the property, and it looks like the folks at La Laguna aren't done yet judging by the open land yet to be developed.
We've heard that they will be expanding to create a beach club similar in size to Potato Head, although we secretly hope they keep the venue small and intimate as it is.
One of the main features at La Laguna is the big wooden bridge that stretches over the lagoon to the beach. This is also the only way to access the restaurant and bar if coming from the beach side of Berawa.
On most days you can see star-struck couples taking photos together on the bridge and cool kids from Jakarta trying to get the perfect selfie.
The restaurant itself overlooks the lagoon (hence the name, La Laguna) and is crammed full of thoughtful details. The decor style is part vintage, part boho, with a touch of Balinese influence (check out the colorful batik cushions).
The food menu at La Laguna isn't that extensive, there's some salads, soups and sandwiches, as well as a few dessert dishes. The drinks menu on the other hand is another story, and we'd recommend coming down to La Laguna for a cheeky margarita and some tapas to share.
It's the perfect venue for birthday drinks with a group of friends (just pull up an oversized floor cushion and enjoy the view), for a romantic first date or simply for a cold Bintang beer after a day at the beach.
The open areas also makes La Laguna children-friendly (although we didn't see a kids menu) and they even have some ducks and swans in an enclosed area for children to see.
The design and attention to detail at La Laguna means that almost everyone you see will be taking photos (either of themselves or the venue) and you can see why this new Bali bar and restaurant is so Instagram-worthy.
Just don't forget to put your camera phone down every now and then to enjoy the view!
La Luguna has a bit of a tricky location which is part of its charm really. Easily accessed from the beach, it's half way between Batu Belig and Berawa Beach - just look out for the wooden bridge.
If driving from Seminyak, head towards Canggu along Jl. Batu Belig. Continue around what used to be the soccer field opposite La Finca and just after La Finca, you'll notice a small gravel road heading straight in the direction of the beach.
