Look, we love a beach club as much as the next person, but sometimes it's nice to head away from the coast and up to the cooler, inland parts of Bali for something a little different and the recent opening of Jungle Fish gave us the perfect opportunity to do exactly that.
Located at Chapung Sebali Resort & Spa in Ubud, Jungle Fish is a brand new open-air restaurant, bar, deck and pool overlooking the Osh River Valley. The quirky name comes from a feature wall made from recycled glass; the mozaic design resembling shimmering fish scales.
Jungle Fish was the vision of a Danish furniture designer and together with the help of an Australian architect, the result is a combination of cool Scandi design mixed with understated Balinese elegance with a modern twist.
The best thing about Jungle Fish is that it's open to non-guests / the public. For an entrance fee of Rp. 150,000 per person, you can enjoy all the facilities the venue has to offer, including the stunning 35 m swimming pool.
Head to the cashier at the main restaurant when you arrive to pay the entrance fee (Adult Rp. 150,000 / Child (under 12 years) Rp. 75,000 / Infant (0 - 3 years) Free).
This entitles you to the following:- Access to Jungle Fish Pool Bar area
The split-level design of Jungle Fish has the main restaurant located on the upper level, above the swimming pool and deck area. Greek Executive Chef, Georgios Giannoulis, has created a menu filled with Mediterranean dishes with exciting Asian flavors.
Choose from the full menu at the main restaurant or head to the lower level for simple yet tasty pool snacks such as salads, burgers and wraps.
At the lower level you'll find the Pool Bar, deck and of course, the swimming pool. There are various seating areas, including two funky little shaded cabanas but these tend to go first so if you're planning on grabbing one, make sure you get there early. Failing that, the brightly colored sun loungers are very comfortable or there's also softer lounge beds at the far end of the pool, however these offer no shade.
The Pool Bar staff are always on hand to help you out with a towel or refreshment, and the bathrooms are located just past the bar.
Jungle Fish is also available for private functions, and we can't imagine a better location to sip cocktails and enjoy the incredible views.
The menu at the Pool Bar offers simple yet tasty pool snacks, as well as a range of fresh fruit juices & smoothies, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. We tried the Arabic Wrap and the Greek Wrap which were served with complimentary glasses of water, a nice touch.
It's fair to say that the biggest attraction at Jungle Fish is the impressive 35 m infinity pool, one of the longest in Ubud. With lush jungle views, this pool is definitely Pinterest-worthy and you'll have a hard time deciding the best angle to photograph it from since it's gorgeous from almost every side!
For children, there's also a special kiddie's pool and gazebo set a little away from the main pool, but still with the same tropical views.
Whether you come to do a few laps in the pool or simply laze in the shallow end and soak up the sun, the pool at Jungle Fish is sure to leave a lasting impression.
