It's easy to get caught up in the latest "must-see" restaurants and bars as Bali becomes more and more fashionable as a holiday destination. A selfie taken at the glamorous Rock Bar might be the perfect keepsake for some, while others might be after something a little more low-key and down to earth. Bungalow Living Bali in Canggu is that kind of place.

Located on Jl. Pantai Berawa, it's a great spot to pop in for an early morning coffee (they open from 8am) or a healthy post-surf salad and smoothie. It's also quiet enough for a business meeting and the perfect place to catch up with the girls over tea and cake.

Owned by an Aussie expat and her local husband, the cafe is not just about food - it's also a great little place to pick up gorgeous homewares and gifts. As the cafe and the shop are basically one area, you can easily pick out what you want to buy without even getting up from the table!

The range of cushions, candles and other knick knacks for the home have a distinct boho vibe and are made locally in Bali or come from far away places such as India and Thailand. You can also pick up journals, bags, incense and jewellery, and if you like the music you hear playing in the cafe, often times it's also for sale.

The vegetarian menu features delicious salads, paninis, bagels and wraps, and also offers gluten-free options (Lemon Curd Three Layer Cake, anyone?).

Healthy juices and smoothies are perfect to cool off on a hot day, or if coffee is more your style then they have you sorted too.

Now if you liked the homewares in the cafe, you'll be thrilled to know that there's a larger gallery located down a small lane directly opposite Bungalow Living Bali. This is where bigger items of furniture are for sale, as well as an impressive collection of cushions and bed throws - basically everything that couldn't fit in the cafe space!

It's also here at the Gallery where the cafe's delicious muffins, scones and breads are freshly baked each day. The entrance is totally Instagram-worthy, and gives just a small taste of what's waiting beyond the antique blue doors.bungalow 7bungalow 8

The Gallery is a delightful space crammed full of gorgeous bed throws, quilts, cushions, bags and jewellery. You could easily makeover your entire bedroom with purchases from here, especially if you're after a tropical/boho look, and it's also the perfect place to find a unique gift for someone.

Now perhaps the most famous staff member at Bungalow is BB King, the resident chocolate "doodle" who spends most days either at the cafe or across the road at the Gallery.

So popular is BB King that he won this year's "Bachelor of the Year" contest held in the area. He had some stiff competition but it looks like all the ladies voted him tops!

He's been on magazine covers and in newspapers, and people come from as far afield as Jakarta just to get a cuddle and photo with the famous furball. He's also incredibly gentle with kids so don't be surprised if you walk into the cafe to find one curled up with him on the floor.
