Indonesia offers some of the tastiest food around, but what if you're in the mood for traditional Japanese Ramen noodles? Bali has a surprising amount of Ramen restaurants, most under Japanese management.

Firstly, let's cover the basics:

What is Ramen

Ramen is a Japanese noodle soup dish. It consists of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a meat- or fish-based broth, often flavored with soy sauce or miso, and toppings such as sliced pork (chāshū) or dried seaweed (nori),

Nearly every region in Japan has its own variation of ramen, from the tonkotsu (pork bone broth) ramen of Kyushu to the miso ramen of Hokkaido.

How to eat Ramen

Traditionally, chopsticks are used but if you find that a little challenging you can always use a fork. Season with salt, pepper, red pepper or chilli oil to add a bit of a kick.
