Nusa Dua Area Guide 2013.07.10

Nusa Dua

Safe and relaxing luxury resort area

Nusa Dua is a peaceful, clean resort area which was developed by the Indonesian government in the nineties. Situated just 25 minutes' drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport, it is home to the best 5-Star hotels, shopping centers and beautiful beaches. It also has its own Convention Centre, which is hosting APEC  in October 2013.

Nusa Dua does not have much of a nightlife and is more famous for its luxurious hotel bars where cocktails on the beach are the go. Due to its distance from noisy and crowded tourist areas, Nusa Dua is preferred by those looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation.

If you want to go to another area, simply book a charter car or a taxi at the transport desk of your hotel.

Leaving the hotel area, stop by the local supermarket Hardy’s on the ByPass road. This famous Indonesian chain offers a whole range of food, drinks,  liquors, local souvenirs and more.  It is more expensive than local shops, but has a wider selection of good quality imported products. It is always good to check both and compare for yourself.

Activities in Nusa Dua

Day Time

The best place to spend your day is on one of the private beaches dotted along the shoreline. Nusa Dua beaches are famous for their calm waters, white sands and beautiful shoreline. You can swim, sunbathe, read a book or simply have a stroll and enjoy the view and fresh ocean breeze. The hotels also provide sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach for a small charge.

For more activities, check out neighboring Tanjung Benoa. This local mecca of marine sports offers a whole range of activities, such as parasailing, jet-skiing, wakeboarding, canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing. Diving and snorkeling are also offered, however the water visibility is not great.

For a completely different experience, head to Nikko Hotel in the south of Nusa Dua where camel safaris are offered. Ride along the beach while enjoying the beautiful sunset - a truly unique way to end the day.

Nusa Dua isn’t known for its bustling nightlife, however there are plenty of hotel bars where you can have a cocktail or two in the evening. Many restaurants in Jl. Pantai Mengiat and Bali Collection shopping center are opened until 10 or 11pm.

Nusa Dua along with Jimbaran area offers a wide range of spa salons, from the cheap to the luxurious, providing spa packages and separate treatments. Treatments can be tailor-made according to your individual preferences and budget.

Nusa Dua is an enclave of large international 5-Star resorts such as the Westin, Hyatt, Nikko, Melia, Club Med and St. Regis. There are not too many tourist attractions in the area, however many opportunities are available inside the resorts including fine restaurants, luxury spas and bars. Even though the number of city-style chains like the Novotel have increased in recent years, Nua Dua is still considered to be a “luxury resort” area.

  • Safe, comfortable and clean government-owned area, well suited for your very first visit to the island
  • Resort-style vacation, quiet and peaceful
  • Tanjung Benoa is the best option for recreational and sport activities
